2009

By now the stuff of legend, the story goes that Nexsis Comms Ltd began with one conversation between co-founders Sean and Leon in a kitchen. Friends since their school days, Sean and Leon were sharing a drink one evening when the pair decided to forge their own network infrastructure and structured cabling installation business.

2010

With a modest team of 8 the pair weathered the storm of one of the most devastating recessions in recent UK history. This turned out to be a very busy year both personally and professionally; as both Sean and Leon welcomed their first and second children respectively! They also invested in the Head Quarters they still hold today in the heart of Ilkeston.

2011

Fast growth and early business success began to earn the company some well deserved recognition, as Nexsis Comms Ltd won Fledgling Business of the Year for Derbyshire in 2011. Happy to keep it in the family, Leon’s sister, Zoe, and Sean’s partner, Emma, both joined the team this year, causing a boom in the progress of the business.

2012

After reaching a milestone 10 members of staff in 2012, the team at Nexsis Comms Ltd welcomed a new baby as Sean and Emma’s second child was born. In the same year, Leon and Sean decided to launch their official branding, which included a number of branded vans.

2013

In 2013 Nexsis Comms Ltd welcomed their first apprentice through the doors. Looking to encourage more young people from the community into the world of work, we took on Katie, who was then working for a qualification in business administration. She soon became a valued estimator, helping Nexsis build strong relationships with clients.

2014

By 2014, Nexsis Comms Ltd had for the first time achieved – and quickly exceeded – their first £million in turnover. It was during this year that we rode the digital wave and joined the cloud throughout the office, changing from a server to Office 365.

2015

Always eager to expand our output, this year we doubled the size of our engineering team, gaining 6 new staff members including our very first engineer apprentice. This apprentice success was continued as Katie went on to pass her Level 2 qualification. The team also said hello to Sean and Emma’s 3rd child.

2016

By this year, Nexsis Comms Ltd had more than 20 members of full-time staff. As well as expanding our talented team we had been working hard over the past 6 years on gaining some big-name clients. It was in this year that we started our close relationship with Briggs & Forrester and Imtech, both of whom are giants in our industry.

2017

Thanks to the hard work of Sean and Leon, the office team, and the talented engineers who were in charge of network infrastructure installation and maintenance, we decided to add the first dedicated marketer to the team. A plan was set in motion to make some big staffing changes to encourage targeted growth in the next year.

2018

This was a momentous year for Nexsis Comms Ltd. Two non-executive directors, Martyn Cole and Ian Terry were introduced to the team. The pair both brought knowledge and experience they’d gained at companies like Microsoft and Fujitsu. Together with Sean and Leon, they decided to expand on the plan and make strides towards a more lucrative business strategy.

2019

Nexsis Comms Ltd turns 10! Locals will have seen us in local newspapers and heard us on local radio station Erewash Sound talking about our birthday celebrations. This year we were also awarded Best Health & Safety Record Award of the Year by Briggs and Forrester!
